Wow, I can just imagine that kid several years down the road trying the same trick to get out of jury duty. Hope he outgrows that one. Do you think his boss would let him go home for that? If so, would he let him come back? ;-)

Thanks for sharing your teacher stories; I love them!

That was hilarious... at least to me - having dealt with those kinds of responses about computers for quite a few years...

Check this out:

I think you will get a kick out of it, since it relates to your story!

I don't have any ideas, both you and Matt have such creative imaginations! I have enjoyed reading each episode as well as the stories you write about past and present experiences. You are a gifted writer and I hope to see your books on my shelf someday. I eagerly await the next episode...(don't wait too long!)

After i read Episode 6 of Adventures, I had to go back and read the previous five; in order. Your really have a gift for writing about that time period. It reminds me a lot of Shannon Hales books. Keep going, and you are going to have a book published someday...

I also have loved reading the stories of things that happen in the classroom. Most people probably think that you make it up, but they are always so "out there," that there is no way anyone could make up something that good...

I can think of a few different things that might have happened to make the trail end:
1. They somehow went underground (some kind of tunnel entrance draped over with a grassy covering).
2. They somehow started flying (they had been hurrying to get to a rendezvous with a guy who has a flying creature or machine).
3. Something erased the tracks (not a particularly exciting idea, imho).
4. They disappearing into some portal/alternate reality.

This last idea seems like it would be the most interesting, and it could have even happened accidentally. The ogres were some distance ahead, and maybe right around dawn (and dusk) the clearing there becomes a portal between two worlds/dimensions. They may have just blundered into it. It seems like they have someone else driving them or giving orders to them, so if this was an accident, that person's evil plans may be thrown off.
The tricky thing would be for Star to figure out what happened. If someone else saw what happened, or an animal that she could learn to talk to, or she could just sense the area as a place of magic...there are lots of options.
So, those are just a few thoughts. I'm enjoying the story, and look forward to reading what happens next.

It was wonderful to be a part of your classroom on that day and hear what your kids had to say about what they learned, and see the posters that they made. We all enjoyed hearing that little boys comment! You are a wonderful teacher Katherine and thanks for letting us share in that day!
